Join Our Team as a Reserve Firefighter

The West Plainfield Fire Department is actively recruiting for SAFER Grant-funded Reserve Firefighters. We are looking for confident, resilient, flexible, and dedicated team members who can think quickly under pressure and communicate effectively.

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED
• Valid California driver's license and automobile insurance
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification
• Commitment of at least 48 duty hours per month (shifts are 12 hours, starting at 0700 or 1900; probationary members work daytime shifts only until completing the Reserve Firefighter Task Book)

Desirable Qualifications:

• California Emergency Medical Technician – Basic certification
• Fire Academy course completion or higher

Benefits & Reimbursement:

• Expense reimbursement of $70.00 per shift (note: does not cover EMT/fire academy classes, certifications, or recertifications)
• Sick leave as required by law (Non-PERS position)
